Flaunt 1 | HOSPITALITY

Idea and Realization :

As a design gesture, we translated this by making the space informal yet functional. Unconventional yet rationale in space making and its form, and opted to create a sense of newness while keeping their needs untainted. Right from the word go , the entry reception is a easy curve that caters to what it does while it smoothly blends in to the main hair cut and styling  space.

The 3 rotating mirrors that are pivoted at the top and bottom allows new patterns of furniture and inventive seating arrangements to be formed. These doubly loaded full length mirror panels create interesting illusions in the main space that calls for fun and liveliness . They are also designed as an entity to enable diffused lighting as well as power arrangements to make the work areas of the stylists clutter free and happy. We turned the boring glass facade front to a ribbon green planter bed with bay seating so friends of clients / customers could also perch around, while making the noon sun form interesting silhouettes with the bamboo , mid afternoon. While still enveloped with this experience walking through , is hard to miss the life size interactive wall art which reflects a collage of many faces and various attitudes that people could ponder and relate and perhaps find a look -a- like.

The Manicure and pedicure sections are positioned at the glass facade so they can look at the park across while a little sunlight just basks them. Adjoining is a hair wash section that also has a television on the shorter walls so that the space could be used as a lounge while the hard to miss cricket matches are on.

The spa rooms, and the facial rooms are located at the rear part so it would be quiet and private. Pantry is flanked with free standing partitions that remove the sense of a room and make it more fluid.

A well defined nook is carved out adjacent to the shampoo station that breaks the rigid notion of a cold cabin. Enables one to say a quick hello or a warm smile to someone who walks in.

Designer note :

“Three friends , three different professions , culminate , one vision.  ‘ Let’s do something new and different …….   ‘ was one of the many things they shared . Their very first outlet of the many yet to come, they desired a space that was to reflect a certain attitude which was young, innovative and had a sense of newness, and hence the name  FLAUNT.  Unlike conventional salons which are starry and cold,  but rather to redefine and invoke a sense of belonging with their clientele and make them at home. “
